9/25: NAPLES DAILY NEWS TAKES A CLOSER LOOK AT NORTH FLORIDA SERVITUDE CASE, ROLE OF CIW... The 9/23 article, entitled "Labor camps kept workers in servitude with crack cocaine: Coalition of Immokalee Workers was instrumental in helping expose abuse in North Florida and North Carolina," details the contribution that an informed, motivated community can make to rooting out farm labor abuse. Here's an excerpt:

"We have informed and educated and aware members because this is an issue that the community has decided, 'We're going to take this on. We're going to fight back,' " Germino [Coordinator of the CIW's Antil-Slavery Campaign] said. "And we're well-situated because, oftentimes, it's their own peers, maybe even their own family members, who are being held against their will or being held in debt. That gives you a sense of urgency to see that justice is done."
