"Como trabajadores y mujeres, tenemos que luchar por nuestros derechos y contra la violencia tanto en la labor como en la casa"
"As women and as workers, we have to fight for our rights and against violence both in the fields and in our own homes"

An
old friend -- Fernando Arau of Univision's morning
show "Despierta America" (left) --
returned to Immokalee and brought some of his
friends this year for a special day of gift-giving,
a day called...
|

... "1,000 Toys for 1,000 Children."
The CIW hosted the event and the CIW/Univision
partnership resulted in an event so popular
that the final official count was 1,200 toys
for 1,200 children!
|

Parents brought their children to share in the
special day and to enjoy the spirit of the season,
a much-needed boost following one of the hardest
fall seasons in many years, with Hurricane Wilma
hitting just as the harvest was set to begin
and leaving thousands of people scrambling for
work...
|

... But this year, thanks to a surprise visit
from our friends at Univision, children's wishes
were granted and we all could forget, if even
for a moment, the daily struggle to survive
in Florida's fields.
The CIW extends its deepest
gratitude to Univision for its continued solidarity
and for its generosity during this Christmas
season.
