Quick hit: Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello gives shoutout to CIW in front of over 10,000 concert goers in Tampa!

“Prophets of Rage” Concert highlights farmworkers’ human rights…

Last Saturday, Tampa’s hopping bay area was visited by the powerhouse tour, Prophets of Rage — a combination of musicians from Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill — which is sweeping the country this fall with the timely tagline, “Make America Rage Again.”  Lighting up the stage, guitar in hand, was Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, who has never been shy when it comes to lending his musical virtuosity and widely-respected political voice to the Fair Food movement.  Midway through the band’s powerful performance, Morello gave a warm shout out to CIW (see video above) and urged concert goers to stop by the CIW’s table and support the Florida-born human rights movement.

And hundreds of them heeded his call!  Not only did the music lovers enjoy the show, they got caught up on the Fair Food movement — and of course, the national boycott against Wendy’s!

For over a decade now, we have been proud to count on Tom Morello’s unwavering support for farm labor justice, whether it was last year on stage in New York City at the John Lennon tribute concert…

… or the unforgettable victory concert for the new Fair Food agreement with McDonald’s in 2007, where Tom reunited with Rage Against the Machine’s Zach de la Rocha to celebrate with over two thousand farmworkers and consumers allies in Chicago’s House of Blues

… or as far back as early actions in Los Angeles for the Taco Bell Boycott (shown here below in 2004 with none other than Boots Riley of the Coup)!

As always, we’re proud to call Tom Morello a friend in the fight for justice.  What a way to get the week started!  Make sure to stay tuned for more exciting updates from the road as the Behind the Braids Tours hits the Southeast and Midwest this week…
