$10,000 to traverse 2,000+ miles: We need YOUR help to send CIW members on the upcoming human rights tour!
In just one month, we will be packing up the protest art, finalizing last-minute details, and loading luggage and precious supplies onto a bus parked in the evening light outside of the CIW’s community center in the small, dusty town of Immokalee, Florida. That bus will carry CIW members and allies northward — and with them, the tour’s urgent demand for respect for human rights in the fields where Wendy’s tomatoes are picked — as they embark on a 2,000-mile trek through more than a dozen U.S. cities for the Campaign for Fair Food’s big Return to Human Rights Tour.
Over the next four weeks, we need to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of the bus that will take Immokalee’s farmworker leaders across the country toward a massive mobilization and parade for Fair Food through the streets of Columbus. Now more than ever, as the country hurtles towards a future that grows more uncertain by the day, it is imperative that we come together to defend the basic human rights of farmworkers — and of all vulnerable people across the country — as the forces that would turn back the clock on progress gather on the horizon. And we cannot do it alone. We need your help to make the Return to Human Rights Tour happen.
So, please, donate if you can — for every $50 you give, that’s 10 more miles on the road! — and make sure to spread the word. Here are some quick messages you can share with friends, family and followers:
