VALENTINE’S DAY PROTESTORS TO YUM: “HAVE A HEART!”

Boycott supporters in Louisville, Kentucky are continuing to prepare for the 2005 Truth Tour and March 12th National Convergence with a series of protest actions and educational events throughout the city.

On February 14, a delegation of community members (above) decided to pay Yum headquarters a heartfelt visit to give a small preview of what’s in store for the weeks ahead. The picketers were greeted with a barrage of honks and waves from cars passing by… yet another sign of the broad support for farmworker justice right in Yum’s own backyard. PREPARATIONS HEATING UP IN LOUISVILLE FOR 2005 TRUTH TOUR!… Even the cold winter weather isn’t enough to dampen the spirits of Louisville supporters of the Taco Bell boycott. In the first of what promise to be many protests around the city of Louisville, local students, union members, grassroots organizations, and faith-based activists (right) are spreading the word about the truth behind Yum Brands and warming the terrain for the March 6th arrival of the CIW in Yum Brands’ hometown.

Meanwhile, students across the country are gearing up for the 2005 Truth Tour in style. Recently, students at Portland State University became one step closer to winning their Boot the Bell campaign. If successful, PSU would become the 22nd school nationwide to take an uncompromising stand for farmworker justice! And according to the Chronicle of Higher Education, students at Boise State University – home of the Taco Bell Arena – have scored an important moral victory on their campus.
