ACTION: Call offices of Wendy’s CEO in support of national boyott!

TODAY: Call Wendy’s CEO Todd Penegor to demand that Wendy’s respect farmworkers’ human rights!

January has flown by, and the Return to Human Rights Tour, as well as the massive mobilization in Wendy’s hometown of Columbus (March 24-26), are swiftly drawing closer.  Between now and then, we need to keep building the powerful momentum of the national Wendy’s boycott — starting right now!

Today, you can join the whole of Fair Food Nation for a national call-in day to the corporate headquarters of the last major fast food hold out!  Dial up Wendy’s CEO Todd Penegor and remind him that you — and many tens of thousands more in the Fair Food network — are not backing down on your commitment to boycott Wendy’s until the company takes real, enforceable measures to protect farmworkers’ human rights in Wendy’s supply chain and joins the Fair Food Program.

Because if Wendy’s fails to join the award-winning, internationally-recognized Fair Food Program before March rolls around, they need to know that our friends, classmates, congregations, and communities will be joining the boycott too and pouring into the company’s hometown of Columbus, Ohio in an action that is sure to reverberate across hundreds of communities and media outlets from coast to coast.

Here’s what to do:

Call-in number: Dial 614-764-3100, press #3, ask to leave a message for Todd Penegor (they will transfer you to his assistant, Lisa Spears)

Here is a sample script:

“Hi, my name is _______ and I’m calling to leave a message for Mr. Todd Penegor in support of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers.  The CIW is a widely-respected farmworker human rights organization that, for years, has been calling on Wendy’s to end exploitation in their supply chain by joining the internationally-recognized Fair Food Program.  I am boycotting Wendy’s because of your company’s ongoing and shameful failure to join the Program.  If Wendy’s doesn’t join the CIW’s Fair Food Program by March, I will be attending a major national farmworker and consumer mobilization March 24-26 in Dublin and Columbus, and I’ll be bringing my community, too!

Thank you for relaying this message.”

Once you’re done, make sure to fill out the form over at the Alliance for Fair Food website to let us know about your call to Wendy’s Headquarters!
