This past Monday, we kicked off our two-week “Expanding Fair Food” Sustainer Drive.  Today marks the halfway point – a critical moment to pause, take stock, and see how we’re doing.

And the results are in:  You did an amazing job this week.

This is already, by far, the largest and most successful online fundraising drive we’ve ever done as the Fair Food Nation.  Over 150 people signed up to give monthly donations, and dozens more made one-time gifts.  In dollars and cents, we’ve raised an incredible $30,000 per year in just one week.  Now the question is, can we make Week #2 even better?  We need your help to get to 500 new Fair Food Sustainers by the end of the week.

As a Fair Food Sustainer, you are part of a vast extended family of people who are making a serious, tangible commitment to protect farmworkers’ human rights.  That commitment takes many, equally important forms:  You show your commitment by taking time away from your work and sometimes your family to march in the streets.  You show it by energizing people you know to support a meaningful solution like the Fair Food Program within your school, congregation, or community.

And you show your commitment through making a monthly donation.

You and thousands of others just like you have made these commitments time and time again, and because of your dedication, tens of thousands of farmworkers receive fairer wages and enjoy the very best working conditions in the produce industry today.  The Fair Food movement has, since its inception, been rooted in relationships: The connection between a community of farmworkers and conscious consumers across the country, who have taken on the Herculean task of transforming the agricultural industry, step by step, shoulder to shoulder.

That’s why we know we can reach our goal of 500 new Fair Food Sustainers by the end of next week.  Whether it’s $5 a month or $50 a month, your contribution makes a world of a difference.
