From a rush of new endorsements for the Alliance for Fair Food to plans for student and religious actions to support the CIW’s 2006 McDonald’s Truth Tour, solidarity is busting out all over as the “Real Rights Tour” rapidly approaches!

Here are just a few of the individuals and organizations that have formally endorsed the the newly-formed Alliance for Fair Food since it was announced on March 8th: SEIU, Food First, the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, Actor Jeff Bridges, School of the Americas Watch, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA), United Church of Christ Justice and Witness Ministries, Singer/songwriter Jackson Browne, National Farm Worker Ministry, Rainforest Action Network, and the Kensington Welfare Rights Union (KWRU). STUDENTS AND YOUTH ACTIONS: Between March 26 and April 4, in support of the Student Labor Week of
Action and Farmworker Awareness Week, students and youth across the country are organizing educational events and protest actions calling on McDonald’s to work with the CIW for real labor reform in its supply chain.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER – MARCH 31: national and regional leaders of religious bodies are calling upon their members to pray and meditate for McDonald’s and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) on Friday,
March 31st. On this Day of Prayer and Meditation to Advance Real Rights for Farmworkers, people of faith will be praying and meditating that McDonald’s Corporation will work with the CIW to advance the real rights of farmworkers in its tomato supply chain. This observance is set to coincide with a prayer vigil and peaceful demonstration led by the CIW and religious leaders outside of McDonald’s headquarters in Oak Brook, IL.
