It’s only been two short weeks since over 800 farmworkers and consumers took to the streets of Palm Beach to demand Wendy’s join the Fair Food Program, and the Fair Food Nation is already back in action, mobilizing allies in the New York City area to turn up the heat on the hamburger giant!! On May 12, just ahead of Wendy’s annual shareholder meeting, the CIW will be bringing its urgent call for long-overdue human rights for farmworkers to Midtown Manhattan, staging a lively rally and street theater performance outside the headquarter offices of Trian Partners, Wendy’s largest institutional shareholder. Make your plans to join us!
Ahead of the big rally on May 12, CIW’s Julia de la Cruz and Gerardo Reyes Chavez will be arriving in New York City and available for presentations and events starting on April 25th. If you’re interested in hosting a farmworker leader of the CIW in your classroom, congregation or community meeting fill out this form to get on our schedule. If you have any questions or would like more information, you can reach out to Natalia at natalia@allianceforfairfood.org.
It’s time for Wendy’s leadership to listen to the voices of farmworkers, consumers and its very own shareholders, and ensure that the women and men that harvest the fast-food company’s produce enjoy the very highest protections against forced labor, sexual violence and other human rights abuses in the food industry. It’s time for Wendy’s to join the Fair Food Program.
Stay tuned for more details on next month’s rally later this week!
